Reading & Writing Lesson 18: The letters ج چ خ خ

In this lesson, we learn several new letters, ح، چ، خ and ج. These letters all have the same base, and are only distinguished by the number of dots they have. They make the following sounds: ح sounds like hé، خ sounds like khé, چ sounds like ché and ج sounds like . These letters all have the same base, and are only distinguished by the number of dots they have (or in the case of ح by the dots they don't have). After learning these letters, we focus on the letter خ .خ is the other sound (in addition to ق) in the Persian language that does not exist in the English language. We learn how it interacts with our vowel sounds, and learn how to use it to spell several words, including:

  • خَر khar (donkey)
  • خوک khook (pig)
  • خِرس khers (bear)
